Tips and tricks to crack interview

Interview is the most important part of any recruitment process. Regardless of our academic background or company and position for which we are applying we all face interview atleast once in our life.





Face-to-Face(F2F) interview is judged on various parameters not just on our academic background but also based on our soft skills and hard skills.




Soft skills vs hard skills
It is found in a survey that in an interview, 85% is based on your soft skills and 15% is based on your hard skills i.e., academic background.







So in order to crack any interview it's important that we are well prepared for it.


To succeed in an interview or to have a wonderful interaction with the recruiter one must be aware about the secret tips and tricks.


Here are some useful tips to prepare and face the interview:

Before interview:


  • Have a quality sleep a day before the interview.
  • Resume is the first thing that a recruiter see so give sufficient time to make an effective resume and choose your own resume format.
  • Make sure whatever you mention in the resume is true and relevant to the position for which you are applying.
  • (If possible) Take colour print of resume on a bond paper.
  • Keep the resume format simple, neat and clean.
  • Make sure your resume itself express your qualities.
  • Arrange your portfolio in a chronological order with all your academic and other relevant documents.
  • Make sure you are well prepared with your academic core subjects and projects.
  • Have a deep knowledge about your project(s).
  • Do some research about the company for which you are applying like what they do? Who is CEO and founder of the company? etc.
  • Make sure your work sample is also available online.
  • Make sure you are aware about the recent activities and latest technologies or recent shifts in corporate world.
  • Make sure you have some examples to say when you are asked to prove your qualities or activities.
  • Always keep Some relevant questions to ask the recruiter at the end of the interview.

On the day of interview:


  • Groom yourself perfectly and specially take care of your shoes and face.
  • (If possible) If you are a boy then also wear cuff links and have a pen in your pocket.  This will show the recruiter that you care for each and every small thing.
  • Wear a analog watch. This will show that you give importance to time management as well.
  • Reach the venue on time.
  • Don't be tensed, stay cool.
  • Knock the door and take permission before entering into the room.
  • Walk gently because your first impression is the last impression.
  • When they ask you to seat say thanks to them.
  • Seat in a comfortable way don't make any noise or anything that can make a bad impression.
  • Listen each and every question very carefully and answer to the point.
  • If you don't understand the question seek for clarification but don't answer unnecessarily.
  • Maintain eye contact. If there are more than one recruiter then you should maintain eye contact with all of them.
  • Smile, smile and smile while answering the questions. However be serious when it's the right time to be.
  • If don't know the answer then say sorry that you don't know the answer but don't answer unnecessarily anything.
  • Don't hesitate, be confident enough.
  • Don't say lie, only tell the truth no matter what it is. However, in scenario based questions, answer very carefully.
  • Have control over your emotions.
  • If you think you can answer a question in any other language then take permission.
  • If they ask you that you may ask questions to them at the end of the interview then always ask questions.
  • At the end of the interview, say thanks and come out of the room gently.

After completing all the rounds of recruitment process, stay happy and hope for the best. If you don't crack interview don't lose hope. Stay focused and try again.
